TYPES OF CASES:
Nursing Home Issues
Nursing homes have been considered by many as
places where senior citizens go to die. Due to
this, nursing home residents often become "victims"
of abuse, neglect, and exploitation by those who we
trust to be 'caregivers.'
The sad part of this is that most nursing home
residents depend on the staff for most of their
daily needs - such as food, water, medicine,
bathing, and bathroom visits. Too many of
these residents are malnourished, dehydrated,
over-medicated, and suffer pressure sores from a
lack of turning. All too often they are deprived of
social interaction and mental stimulation.
When nursing home operators are more concerned about
profit than resident care, staff members are often
overworked, underpaid, and lacking in proper
training.
Abuse and/or neglect can be defined as any act or
failure to act that causes mental or physical harm
or death to a resident. This includes verbal,
sexual, mental or physical abuse, involuntary
seclusion, or other similar actions. The
attorneys at Blue Wilson +
Blue are experienced in identifying and
taking action against operators who violate their
responsibilities and obtaining compensation for
victims and their families. |
